Berunda fiesta 2020 at Bogambara cultural park.
With an ongoing global pandemic and worldwide lockdowns, it goes without saying that the past few months had taken a toll on most of us. The Berunda Fiesta summer festival put together by Berunda was a unique event that was beyond a typical food festival. The focal idea was creating a platform to connect communities through creativity and culture giving a breath of fresh air to our once restricted lives. The event took place at the Bogambara cultural park in Kandy on the 25th and 26th of September.
It was a beautiful Friday evening in the hills of Kandy. With the stalls in place, ovens fired up, lights lit up and the sounds tuned to full, the stage was set for a memorable evening full of delicious food and electrifying music. As the sun was setting the park filled with excited groups of people who had made their way to Bogambara not only from Kandy but from many parts of the island in anticipation of an entertaining evening. By night the crowd was a refreshing mix of friends, families, and couples from all age groups.
The cool evening air around the park was filled with the mouthwatering smell of freshly prepared pizzas, burgers, tacos, kottu, and many other gastronomic foods. There were mom-n-pop stalls offering an extraordinary range of local and foreign cuisines as well as outlets of many of your favorite restaurants. The presence of the brand was strong in the Berunda stall which stood out at the festival as people flocked around it. In the middle of crackling fires and sizzling woks, DJ Kush, Dharia Adari, and the infamous Seesharp put up an outstanding musical performance that set the perfect ambiance for the night. The extravagant music converted the park into one big party in no time which continued into the night. Friday was an immense success for the organizers.
As anticipated, the word about the electrifying atmosphere at the Bogambara cultural park on Friday had spread like wildfire and there was a larger turn up for the festival on Saturday. This only meant one thing; More delicious food, more dashing music, and more happy people. DJs Chami, Miran, and Shan lit the night with their intoxicating tunes that were hard to ignore.
People from all over Kandy were given yet another chance to own their very own piece of the Berunda lifestyle! Co-sponsored by Ceylon Tobacco and Nestlé Sri Lanka Berunda Fiesta featured our unique clothing line where more excitement took place.
The Berunda summer festival was beyond what you would have imagined it would be. Most importantly the biggest treat was seeing people from all age groups connecting and bonding over good food and beautiful music, taking one small step towards a normal life again. Successfully wrapping up their event on Saturday night Berunda has once again lived up to their promising standard which we experienced once before in 2019 event.
